Braden Shattuck, Makefield Staff Player, PGA Pro, and Director or Instruction at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, PA won the 2023 Blaisdell Pro Am at the Pennhills Country Club on July 25th. He accepted this award from Zippo lighter co-owners Grant Duke and George Duke during the award ceremony. Shattuck scored 67 after a three-way tie and playoff round during the Pro Am.
The Blaisdell Pro Am was started by George G. Blaisdell, an avid golfer and creator of the Zippo lighter. The tournaments continued for more than 20 years and featured nationally recognized PGA players, including Bob Eastman, Marty Fleckman, Gibby Gilbert, Rocky Thompson, J.C. Goosie, Sam Snead, and Gene Sarazan. Even MLB Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio visited the club for the 1980 Zippo Open.
Zippo sponsors the Blaisdell Pro Am Tournament as a tribute to George G. Blaisdell and his love for the Pennhills Country Club and the game of golf.
