This dedication was rewarded at Steel Club in Hellertown, PA, where Michael secured his place in a 5-for-3 playoff with a par on the first playoff hole, joining professionals Jason Caron and Brian Gaffney in qualifying for the prestigious event.

The qualifying round at Steel Club (par 71, 6,923 yards) was no easy feat, with the scoring average standing at a challenging 79.3. An article from GAP(Golf Association of Philadelphia) details how Michael’s “nerves of steel” and relentless practice paid off, particularly on the first playoff hole where he executed a precise 9-iron shot from 143 yards to 15 feet, helping to secure his par and his spot in the U.S. Senior Open.

For Michael, qualifying for the U.S. Senior Open is the culmination of decades of effort and sacrifice. Reflecting on his journey, Michael said, “Getting through this qualifier is a huge monkey off my back because it’s been my goal forever to play professionally and I just didn’t make it. Just for a week to be out there with those guys will make it feel like all I have put into the game has been worth it.”
