About Hal
Hal Sutton is a 14-time PGA Tour winner whose legendary career has cemented his place among the game's greats. His résumé includes the 1983 PGA Championship and two Players Championship titles — most memorably his 2000 win at TPC Sawgrass, capped by a head-to-head final-round duel with Tiger Woods that produced one of golf's most iconic moments. As Sutton walked his approach shot into the 18th green, he told his caddie, “Be the right club today,” and it was — sealing the win and a line that's lived in golf lore ever since.
A four-time Ryder Cup player (1985, 1987, 1999, 2002), Sutton went on to captain the 2004 U.S. Ryder Cup Team at Oakland Hills, adding a leadership chapter to a career already defined by clutch performance and fierce competitive spirit.
Today, Sutton continues to shape the game through course design, public appearances, and his partnership with Makefield Putters. A true believer in performance, Hal currently games two Makefield putters — a red VS-F and the EF Legacy blade.
